KH Nutrition Coaching provides support and guidance for clients wanting to make lasting, meaningful changes to their diet.
What is a Nutrition Coach?
Think of a nutrition coach as being like a personal trainer, but for food!
It’s not only for weight loss – clients also come looking to improve their health and wellbeing by making positive, sustainable changes to their diet.
Most people know where there is room for improvement in their diets and what the basics of good nutrition are, but often taking the next step to making changes can be daunting. Perhaps diets haven’t worked in the past, or maybe you just don’t know how or where to start – this is where nutrition coaching can help.
Through her consultations, Kate is able to get to know you, your dieting history, your current relationship with food, your lifestyle and to understand the goals you have for your health, nutrition and general wellbeing.
She then works together with you to achieve those goals in the ways that work best for you. There is no judgement and no guilt: just support, encouragement and yes, some accountability!
How is this different to a diet club?
The nutrition coaching Kate offers is built around the needs and circumstances of each individual client. If an approach doesn’t work for you, she makes adjustments and tries something else.
Nutrition is connected to so many other parts of our lives: sleep, stress levels, gut health, physical activity, emotional health and mindset. She is here to support you with any or all of these things.
And unlike commercial diets, meal replacement products or some meal delivery services, the best sign of her success is when you don’t need her anymore! Her goal as a coach is for you to have the knowledge and strategies to maintain your healthy diet on your own.
Why Kate?
She loves food, likes to eat and likes to enjoy it.
She also understand how it feels to get nutrition “wrong”.
For almost 25 years, Kate followed a cycle of periods of restricted eating interspersed with episodes of binging. She had a library of diet books and tried (unsuccessfully) to stick to countless different weight-loss regimes: from those Lose 10lb in two weeks! magazine articles to Gillian McKeith, Slim-Fast, no-sugar, low carb, juice-only “detoxes”, too much exercise, the Dukan diet, the Headspace diet….. she was always looking for the holy grail that would finally “fix” things. The irony was that in all those years, she was never actually overweight, just trying to lose an arbitrary 7lb, cope with a poor body image and find some degree of control.
Throughout these years, Kate thought she knew how she ought to be eating, and considered herself to have a pretty good diet. But in October 2020 whilst working as a teacher, a combination of work-related stress, not sleeping properly and not fuelling her body correctly lead her to experience a breakdown – it was time for a change.
Kate left teaching and spent all of 2021 studying nutrition, culminating in qualifying as an Accredited Nutrition Coach by gaining the Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition Coaching from the highly-regarded BTN Academy This was utterly transformative for her: cutting through the pseudo-science and the celebrity-endorsed diets to finally understand the importance of an evidence-based approach and the role our brain plays in the foods we eat.
Kate knows that following a healthy diet isn’t always as simple as “eat less” or “eat better”. It’s also about the choices we make, the way we feel about food, how we grew up, the impact of our emotions and even our hormones. And now that she understands all of that so much better, it’s fantastic to be able to help others to move forward and get the best from their diet too.
